Cal HC On Abhishek Banerjee: After the Supreme Court's relief, Diamond Harbour Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee has got more relief. The court has extended Abhishek's protection till August 31. What did the Calcutta High Court say?
The High Court has granted interim protection in the three cases filed against Abhishek Banerjee in Kalitala, Bishnupur and Bhavanipur police stations till August 31. 'If there had been no change in the political tide in the state, could you have made this allegation? So, the reality should not be denied. You could have conducted custodial interrogation before May 4. If the FIR is filed so late, the court will intervene. The complainant has already been attacked. So, where is the problem if he is asked to cooperate?' - asked Justice Saugata Bhattacharya.

During the hearing of the case today, the state lawyer and Additional Solicitor SV Raju opposed the protection and again claimed that there should be no interim order, but an application for anticipatory bail for Abhishek. Therefore, this case is not acceptable. Justice Bhattacharya counter-questioned the Additional Solicitor General, saying that if the court does not grant interim protection in this case, then the interim protection granted by the court in the DJ controversy case will become meaningless.
SV Raju countered that there are allegations of financial corruption in illegal mining against Abhishek. Justice Bhattacharya questioned the filing of an FIR after a long time and said, "Did Abhijit Das (Bobby), who lost the election against Abhishek Banerjee, make these allegations? See when the FIRs were filed? Isn't this enough to issue an interim stay order! Let the police investigate like the police. The court also wants to see how much progress has been made in the investigation." Then SV Raju countered and said, “Just because the FIR was filed late, it will get protection, it is not the law. This case has no acceptability.”

However, Justice Saugata Bhattacharya did not agree to this claim or allegation. He countered the opposition lawyers, 'If there had not been a change in the political tide in the state, would you have made this allegation? So the reality should not be denied. You could have conducted custodial interrogation before May 4. If the FIR is filed so late, the court will intervene. The complainant has already been attacked.
